Exciting Enhancements to GIVE: Empowering Users with New Tools for GIS Data Management
August 22, 2024
At Gistic Research, we’re always focused on enhancing our GIVE platform to better serve the needs of our users in the GIS and emergency management sectors. Today, we’re excited to share some recently released features that take GIVE’s functionality to the next level, providing greater flexibility, control, and collaboration.
Administrator-Only Transaction Review and Transactional Rollback – We’ve introduced a powerful new feature that allows Administrators to filter and review individual edit transactions with the capability to roll them back. This enhancement includes detailed before-and-after comparisons of feature attributes and their geometries and can be filtered by an individual editor if needed, streamlining the process of reviewing and managing edits.
Advanced Bookmarking & Cross-Agency Collaboration – Our new bookmarking feature is designed for seamless collaboration. Users can now create, catalog and manage bookmarks, which can be private, shared agency-wide, with a specific user or with folks in an adjacent agency through an innovative chat-like interface. This feature supports effective internal and cross-agency communication on issues as well as standard business processes all from within GIVE.
Google Street View Integration – To further support addressing development and verification, we’ve added a Google Street View option to our map context menu. With a simple right-click, users can now visually inspect locations directly from their desktops, saving valuable time that would otherwise be spent on-site.
Administrative Flexibility & Quality Control Enhancements – Administrators now have more control than ever with new settings that allow customization of system variables that were previously hard-coded. From incorporating ancillary feature and image services, setting the initial map extents that the users will see when logging in, to fine-tuning quality control parameters, these tools ensure that GIVE can adapt to the specific needs of each agency.
Validation Compliance Reporting – Data health is paramount, and our new Validation Compliance Report (VCR) provides a comprehensive overview of validation issues within the system. This report can be downloaded as a .pdf, making it easy to share insights with stakeholders, even those without system access. These updates reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and our dedication to empowering users with the best tools for managing critical GIS data. We’re excited about the possibilities these enhancements unlock and look forward to seeing how our clients leverage them in their day-to-day operations.
